Thomas Alexander Kolbe is a keyboardist and music producer, known for his work as part of the duo Club of Tone and creator behind a number of Topazz tracks.

Kolbe also studies the history of Japanese music and its associated culture. Another area of his research, since 2024, is the connection between music, neurology, and psychology. Since 2024, Kolbe has been writing on these subjects.

Note on Author Identity and Work Method

Born in Potsdam, Germany in 1967, Kolbe has been passionate about music from a young age. As part of Club of Tone, he contributes to the creation of electronic music. Until 2022, he produced house music under the pseudonym “Topazz.”

Kolbe is also active in composing sync music, most recently for the Korean Netflix reality show “19/20,” and has been writing stories for adults and children since 2023.

Kolbe’s diverse musical background spans multiple genres, reflecting his ability to weave complex melodies and layered sounds that resonate deeply with listeners.

Outside of music and academic pursuits, Kolbe draws inspiration from his travels and cultural experiences. He lives in Nagoya, Japan, and incorporates these experiences into his art and life.

Kolbe’s music continues to engage audiences, leaving a lasting impression on the electronic music scene and among his peers.
